The inventory of homes listed for sale continues at record levels run to 1970 now available. This is a 6th 4 months supply of homes for sale at the current pace of sales.
There you have it, straight forward without frosting. This is the slowest real estate market for the sale of a home in the Springfield, Illinois market since 2001, after four years due to the setting sales targets.
What happens if you need to sell your house? It would be better do your homework, hiring an experienced agent who has proven marketing systems, and one that you be honest about the price. The inexperienced agent will fight in pricing is the agent takes a listing to tell you what you want to hear, and do not know enough 99% of the agent to recommend a plan quantities.
The houses that are priced to sell the best for their condition, location and facilities. The others must wait until 2009. Of course there are exceptions to every rule, there are a few happy sellers who tell me that reminds car dealers, there is a butt for every seat.
With consumer confidence are lagging because of high prices, especially at the gas pump and grocery store in the help it not sure if the media poisoning, which continues to be good.
Thank God only 25% of people now get their news from print media. The business sector today (9-6-08) State Journal Register would you know that in 1929, with people jumping out of the bars!
Here’s what I: main headline, big and fat cover, “Foreclosures not include”. Read the story. They are the story involves people who are behind on their payments with regard to the actual foreclosures dropped into a pot.
What a pot. And wonder why newspaper publishers have become extinct forever? Slanted reporting with an agenda is not what people want to read. What happened to objective journalism?
Oh, there’s more, the second headline “unemployment rate rises to 6. 1%, take the high unemployment in five years.” The truth is, but nowhere will read, “after five years because of low unemployment” or “Unemployment is less than half that in other countries.” Purpose Driven Reporting perhaps?
Oh, there’s more, small side street article with brave but tiny head, “Oil price falls to $ 106. 23. Read the article. The lowest price since April. This is good news people. Why the economy is struggling? The pull-back in consumer spending for families through the payment of taxes amounting to cruel higher gas, energy and food prices.
No where to be about falling interest rates. Sell with a record number of real estate, home prices trending downward, and falling interest rates, now is a good time to a buyer of Springfield, Illinois real estate.
When the local newspaper an inkling of desire, the economy of the main plot would have had help, “Falling gas prices and interest rates good news for consumers”.
This economic recovery is, if people can keep more of their hard-earned dollars on something else to fill their cars with gas to spend, taking them through the nose at the grocery checkout and pay the electricity bill and coming soon on gas bill. Who can blame for family retreat? Some can not afford to buy something else, while those who can afford not to. Negative headlines and slanted stories reinforce the perception of everything is bad.
So congratulations SJR, I think you are part of the problem and not part of a solution to a slowing economy. The 6th September issue is proof of that.
When the State Journal Register continues all they can do to create a negative psychology in the economy, then they will contribute to their own destruction! Adios print media.
This is a disgrace. I read the newspaper with my morning coffee. At least if there is objective journalism.
